Past Vice President (2025–2026) | Vice President (2024–2025) | Concrete Canoe PM (2023–2024)
My involvement with ASCE FIU has been one of the most defining parts of my journey as a civil engineering student and leader. Through each role, I’ve focused on empowering others, strengthening collaboration, and expanding opportunities for professional growth within the chapter.
As Past Vice President, I continue to support chapter operations, event coordination, and student mentorship, ensuring continuity in leadership and a smooth transition for the next generation of officers.
During my term as Vice President, I:
Oversaw six competition teams — Concrete Canoe, Steel Bridge, Sustainable Solutions, Timber Strong, 3D Printed Bridge, and Surveying — by coordinating resources, budgets, and faculty support.
Managed travel and logistics for 55 students attending the 2025 ASCE Southeast Student Symposium in Athens, Georgia.
Led student engagement initiatives such as Field Day for Civil Engineers and On the Path with ASCE FIU, which connected students across civil engineering disciplines.
Worked closely with the ASCE Miami-Dade and Broward Branches to secure sponsorships and mentorship opportunities.
Collaborated with Dr. Cora Martinez-Franklin and the executive board to strengthen membership retention and professional development.
Before joining the executive board, I served as Project Manager for the 2023–2024 Concrete Canoe Team, where I:
Led a 40+ member team in the design, construction, and racing of Leviathan 2024.
Introduced cost-control strategies that reduced expenses by nearly $15,000.
Oversaw mix design, mold fabrication, and quality assurance, leading the team to a Top 6 finish at the ASCE Southeast Student Symposium.
"ASCE FIU has shaped my leadership journey, teaching me the value of teamwork, perseverance, and mentorship — qualities I aim to carry forward into every aspect of my engineering career."
President (2025–2026) | Founding Executive Board Member (2023–2025)
As President of AAVE FIU, I lead an organization dedicated to empowering Venezuelan and Hispanic engineers by providing mentorship, networking, and professional development opportunities. My role focuses on uniting students, alumni, and industry professionals while celebrating cultural identity within the engineering community.
As President, I:
Oversee chapter operations, budgeting, and event planning while guiding a dedicated executive board.
Organize professional panels, industry collaborations, and cultural events that highlight the contributions of Venezuelan engineers in South Florida.
Strengthen partnerships with the AAVE professional chapter, FIU’s Hispanic Heritage Committee, and local engineering organizations.
Coordinate volunteer and outreach initiatives, such as donation drives for Venezuelan communities and letters to children abroad.
Mentor students navigating the transition from college to the workforce, promoting leadership and academic excellence.
Before becoming President, I served on the founding executive board, helping to establish AAVE FIU as an officially registered student organization.
Assisted in drafting the chapter’s constitution, branding, and membership structure.
Led recruitment and coordinated our first General Body Meeting, connecting students with professionals from across Florida.
"AAVE FIU represents more than professional growth — it’s about community, belonging, and showing that our heritage and engineering excellence go hand in hand."
Participating in the FIU Academy of Leaders (AOL) has been one of the most meaningful and transformative experiences of my time at Florida International University. From the very first weekend, I found myself surrounded by students who shared a passion for growth, teamwork, and service. AOL encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone, engage in open conversations, and explore what leadership truly means.
Through group discussions, challenges, and reflection sessions, I discovered that leadership is not about authority — it’s about influence, empathy, and purpose. I learned to identify my strengths and recognise how to use them to support others. The programme also helped me improve my communication and problem-solving skills, teaching me how to adapt to different leadership styles and collaborate effectively within diverse teams.
One of the most rewarding aspects of AOL was connecting with incredible peers who inspired me every day. Working together through activities and projects taught me the value of collaboration and how powerful it is when people bring their unique perspectives to achieve a shared goal. These friendships have become lasting connections that continue to motivate and uplift me.
AOL reminded me that leadership extends beyond titles — it’s reflected in everyday actions, the way we listen, and how we uplift those around us. This programme reinforced my commitment to lead with authenticity, kindness, and purpose, values that I carry into every organisation and project I’m part of at FIU and beyond.
Receiving my Certificate of Completion was not just a milestone but a reminder of how much I’ve grown as a person and a leader. AOL has shaped the way I approach challenges, collaborate with others, and contribute to my community. I left the programme feeling more confident, grounded, and inspired to continue creating spaces that encourage growth and inclusion.
